Mapúa University School of Health Sciences (SOHS) proudly celebrates a significant milestone as the faculty’s entry, “Social Accountability in Primary Care Through Service Learning,” secures acceptance into the TUFH Social Accountability Fellowship. This esteemed fellowship, a collaboration between The Network: TUFH, NOSM University, and The University of Limerick, provides a transformative platform for educators to integrate social accountability principles into their teaching, research, and community engagement. The fellowship aims to advance Impact, Accreditation, and Leadership in healthcare education by designing and implementing social accountability standards to address the priority health needs of societies, communities, and contexts.

Through this fellowship, Mapúa’s faculty members will enhance the relevance of their curriculum, gaining insights into the societal context within which healthcare operates. Moreover, they will collaborate with educators from diverse corners of the globe, fostering a rich exchange of perspectives and best practices. Engaging with peers from Ethiopia, South Africa, Yemen, Pakistan, Oman, Tunisia, Brazil, Colombia, Canada, India, and Argentina, they will contribute to a rich tapestry of global perspectives on addressing the societal dimensions of healthcare education. This experience not only positions the faculty members as ambassadors of social accountability but also underscores Mapúa’s commitment to fostering a global community of educators dedicated to transformative healthcare practices.
